I read somewhere that if you’re travelling with a baby, it’s a good idea to get them a new toy for the trip.
On Sunday, I am flying to Toronto with my 10 month old son. Naturally, he needs a new toy; the Internet says so!
Not that long ago, I saw an adorable crochet toy on Pinterest. I followed the pin to a lovely blog with a well-written and super easy to follow pattern. Unlike the teething ring, this toy took me less than a week to finish – all the while chasing a baby who’s desperately trying to walk on his own but can’t quite do it yet, and packing for our move back to Indiana. In one sitting, it would have taken less than 3 hours.
Even though I have been crocheting as long as I can remember, this is the first finished crochet item that I made by following someone else’s instructions, to the letter, without any changes, improvisations, shortcuts, or modifications. Well… except for the ears; I decided to stop increasing after round 7. Other than that – stitch for stitch.
I love how it turned out.
I love the chubby legs the creature has, and its cute facial expression.
But most importantly, I love that baby Bubba will have plenty of surface area to bite and chew on – his two favourite activities at the time.
I think we are ready for the trip!
Very cute!
