Since I sent out an appeal to help me keep believing in the goodness of humanity in my newsletter 4 weeks ago, through your purchases of the Help Ukraine crochet pattern bundle you have helped me to raise, to date, $750 dollars. Click to view the donation receipt and the sales report, if you wish.
There are so many organizations, in Ukraine and abroad, all of which are doing their best to provide aid to those in need (and not just in Ukraine). Overwhelmed by the options, I decided to reach out to a friend in Kharkiv with the intention to ask for his opinion. In fact, I would have asked the friend, Andriy, if he needed the money for himself or his family and friends. When I logged into Facebook to send him a message, I saw this newly-posted request on my feed. From Andriy.
That was it. I suddenly knew exactly where and how to send the money. The money for which I thank you.
These are the people you are helping. The citizens of Kharkiv, whose town has been under shelling since 5:30 AM on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
People like Andriy. My teacher-mentor. My friend. A gentle and kind soul who in his free time helps preserve traditional Ukrainian songs in a folklore ensemble called Муравський Шлях / Muravskiy Shlyakh. They recorded this song from inside their homes – some still in Kharkiv, others dispersed all over Ukraine and Europe – at the end of March. Andriy sings third.
I will continue to send all money collected through the sale of the Help Ukraine bundle to Kharkiv. Will you continue to help me?
I will be sending the next bulk donation payment in a week. So far, I have $135. I would be so grateful if we could get to $250! That would make an even $1000 in total! 🤞🤞🤞
Feel free to share this post with your fellow crochet lovers, with your crochet clubs and groups. Indeed, the bundle is a great way to instantly add 38 crochet patterns to your pattern library – all the while helping me to help the people I love.
Once again, THANK YOU.
May this nightmare be over soon.
