It warms my heart knowing so many people from around the world appreciate my patterns and enjoy the process of creating something out of seemingly nothing with a little help from my instructions.

Since all three stacking baskets sets from my Jute and Cotton Series come in complementary designs and sizes, even without so many of you asking for it I knew I wanted to make all three patterns available in one convenient listing for those who want to own an instant pattern collection. The bundle offers the all three pattern sets (9 basket patterns in total) at a HUGE discount – just a dollar more than a single pattern if purchased individually.

If you’d prefer to purchase the bundle through my Etsy shop instead, please use coupon code BLOGZLAVA3 for an instant $3 off an already discounted Etsy bundle.

And remember: if you have any questions, let me know. I’m here to help.

Happy crocheting!

crochet pattern: round stacking baskets

The long-awaited pattern has arrived! Get it here or by clicking on any of the images below.

UPDATE: A matching square version of these popular round jute and cotton baskets is now also available in my shop. And both designs can be purchased together as a discounted bundle by clicking here.

When I say “a pattern,” I mean so much more than a couple pages of instructions written in crochet shorthand. It’s a PDF containing twenty beautifully organized pages with tips, photo tutorials, detailed step-by-step instructions, explanation of each stitch needed to complete the project, and high quality images.

Baskets crocheted with the help of my pattern are sturdy, highly functional, and very,  very pretty. They provide a lot of storage space, yet when not in use they stack perfectly to save room.

Even the smallest of the three is quite large – 17.5 cm (7 in) in diameter and 7.5 cm (3 in) tall. Medium basket is 22.5 cm (9 in) wide and 9 cm (3-3/4 in) tall. The large offers generous storage space with its 27.5 cm (11 in) diameter and 11.5 cm (4.5 in) height.

I really enjoy working with jute and figuring out how it could best work for a basket that is meant to be used. Jute is an interesting material; stiff yet pliable at the same time – perfect for a base that won’t get soiled or fray easily.

The most rewarding part of creating this pattern, however, was the invention of a special stitch. It is vital to creating a perfectly even, decorative seam right where basket sides attach to base. Thanks to the special stitch, basket sides are rising from the base at a perfect right angle. How to successfully crochet this stitch is explained in great detail in a 7-page photo tutorial.

I hope you like the baskets enough to want to make some for yourself. But even if crochet is not your passion, you can spread the word about this pattern. Pin it, tweet it, like it – you might help a friend discover a project they would otherwise never come across.

And while I also sell all of these patterns in my  EtsyRavelry, and Craftsy shops, jakigu.com is my online home and I want you to feel special every time you visit. That’s why here you’ll always find my patterns at a 25-50% discount.

work in progress: stacking baskets

The new pattern is almost here! I am quite proud of this one. It’s more like a three-in-one instructional booklet than a written pattern. It contains twenty pages filled with crochet basics needed to complete the project as well as many useful tips, photo tutorials, and illustrations to make three stacking baskets. They are both functional and beautiful, crocheted in a unique combination of jute and cotton. They look so great in my son’s bedroom, and I have a set in my office – they are perfect for storing things big and small!
Look for the pattern in my store.
