I have a new crochet pattern for you to try! It’s a wonderful yarn stash buster, and if you aren’t bothered by clingy toddlers or demanding husbands, you could make more than a couple in an afternoon.
These lovely pinwheel coasters are so versatile – the colour combinations in which they can be worked are virtually endless. You be the designer: let the pattern inspire you and then run wild with it! Make something truly yours; to fit your mood, home decor, or current season. One can never have enough coasters – and if she does, she can always give them away as thoughtful, handmade gifts.
Though Easter is passed, many holidays during which families gather (and frosty cups, glasses, and mugs create those dreadful circles on your furniture) are just around the corner.
Can you imagine these worked in red, white, and blue for Independence day? Orange and charcoal grey for Halloween? In the colours of fall foliage for Thanksgiving? Red, green, and gold for Christmas?
Or, why not go ahead and plan for next Easter right now? Think lovely spring pastels, mixed-and-matched to make them look like spring flowers. Aw! Wouldn’t it be cute?
This pattern is written in standard American terms and uses only basic crochet stitches. At the same time, it calls for working in an unusual direction; and depending on how many colours you choose to work it, it might require several colour changes and weaving in a few more ends. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this pattern to a novice crocheter – but I would most certainly not discourage her from trying!
And even if you don’t feel like diving into making these coasters right now, there might be something else that inspires your creative inner self in my shop. Go ahead and check in out!
If you like the pattern, go ahead and tell me! I always love reading your comments! And don’t be shy to show off your crochet skills by posting pictures of your finished coasters on my Facebook page.
