Snowflakes 2024

free jakigu.com 2024 crochet pattern collection

We’ve been wishing for SNOW on our Christmas list but keep finding rain instead—and that’s alright. This year, we were lucky to spend Christmas in Toronto, where it snowed just long and hard enough to gift us a perfect white Christmas Eve. We built a life-size snowman, made snow angels, and had enough snowball fights to soak our mittens and boots to the brim. But there’s something special about snowflakes lighting up the darkest days of December. While we keep hoping for those delicate flakes to grace our skies here in Indiana as well, I am excited to offer not just one but six snowflake patterns—the 2024 crochet snowflakes collection. Let’s bring a little snowy magic into our homes, no matter the weather outside.

  • 1.25 mm hook
  • #12 DMC Coton Perle Thread
  • Scissors
  • Needle for weaving in ends
  • Chain stitch [ch]: Yarn over the hook. Pull yarn through the loop on the hook.
  • Skip [sk]: Skip the stated number of stitches.
  • Slip stitch [sl st]: Insert the hook into the space specified. Yarn over. Pull yarn through the stitch and the loop on the hook.
  • Single Crochet [sc]: Insert hook into the next available stitch of the previous round, or into a stitch specified. Pull up a loop. You have 2 loops on the hook. Yarn over & pull yarn through both loops on the hook. The single crochet stich is complete.
  • Double Crochet [dc]: Yarn over. Insert hook into the next available stitch of the previous round, or into a stitch specified. Pull up a loop. You have 3 loops on the hook. Yarn over & pull yarn through first two loops on the hook. You now have 2 loops on the hook. Yarn over & pull yarn through both loops on the hook. The double crochet stich is complete.
  • Three Double Crochet Stitches Worked Together [dc3tog]: Yarn over. Insert hook into the next available stitch of the previous round, or into a stitch specified. Pull up a loop. You have 3 loops on the hook. Yarn over & pull yarn through first two loops on the hook. You now have 2 loops on the hook – these two loops are the first partial double crochet stitch. Work the second partial double crochet stitch: Yarn over. Insert hook into the same stitch as the first partial double crochet stitch. Pull up a loop. You have 4 loops on the hook. Yarn over & pull yarn through first two loops on the hook. You now have 3 loops on the hook – those are the first two partial double crochet stitches. Work the third partial double crochet stitch: Yarn over. Insert hook into the same stitch as the first two partial double crochet stitches. Pull up a loop. You have 5 loops on the hook. Yarn over & pull yarn through first two loops on the hook. You now have 4 loops on the hook – those are the the three partial double crochet stitches that need to be worked together. To work these 3 stitches together, yarn over and pull it through all 4 loops on the hook. Dc3tog is complete. Note when a dc3tog is at the beginning of the round: Instead of the first partial double crochet, work 3 chains. Then work the second and third partial crochet stitches as described with the understanding that in this case, you will always have one less stitch on the hook than stated for dc3tog.
  • Triple Crochet [tc]: Yarn over twice. Insert hook into the next available stitch of the previous round, or into a stitch specified. Pull a loop through the ring. You have 4 loops on the hook. Yarn over & pull yarn through first two loops on the hook. You now have 3 loops on the hook. Yarn over & pull yarn through first two loops on the hook. You now have 2 loops on the hook. Yarn over & pull yarn through both remaining loops on the hook. Triple crochet stich is complete.
  • Picot: Chain 3 (or the number specified). Then work a slip stitch into the last stitch worked.
There are almost as many ways to work a picot as there are crocheters. You may already have a favorite method – if that’s the case, feel free to work each picot as desired.
