Worsted weight yarn
4.0 – 5.5 mm hook (US size G/6-I/9); or any other appropriate yarn-hook combination
{Finished Size}
Depends on the hook and yarn used. With a 4.0 mm hook: approximately 11.5 cm (4 5/8 in)
{Stitches Used}
- chain stitch (ch)
- single crochet (sc)
- slip stitch (sl st)
- 2-double-crochet cluster (2-dc cluster)
- 3-double-crochet cluster (3-dc cluster)
- 3-double-crochet shell (3-dc shell)
- 5-double-crochet shell (5-dc shell)
{Pattern Instructions}
Round 1:
ch 2 – 6 sc into the first chain stitch – sl st to form a ring (to tighten the ring, pull the loose yarn end)
Round 2:
ch 2 – 2-dc cluster – *{3-dc cluster – ch 5}* around – sl st
Round 3:
ch 1 – *{into chain spaces only: 3 sc – ch 3 – 3 sc – ch 2}* around – sl st
Round 4:
sl st into each of the next 3 sc – ch 1 – *{sc into the 3-chain space – ch 5 – 2-dc cluster into the 2-chain space – ch 5}* around – sl st
Round 5:
sl st into the chain space – ch 1- sc into the same chain space – *{5-dc shell into the 2-dc cluster – sc into the chain space – 3-dc shell into sc – sc° into the chain}* around – weave ends in
° Note: the last single crochet in this round should be replaced by a slip stitch into the first single crochet of the round to neatly finish the coaster off.
