Round jute and cotton stacking baskets. The long-awaited pattern has arrived! The twenty-page PDF file contains detailed instructions, illustrative photos, helpful tips, photo tutorials, and a summary of crochet skills needed for this project. Get it on jakigu.com or on Etsy.
I really enjoy working with jute and figuring out how it could best work for a basket that is meant to be used. Jute is an interesting material; stiff yet pliable at the same time – perfect for a base that won’t get soiled or fray easily.
The most rewarding part of creating this pattern, however, was the invention of a special stitch. It is vital to creating a decorative seam at a perfectly right angle right where basket sides attach to the base. How to successfully crochet this stitch is explained in great detail in a 7-page photo tutorial.

Blog Post Update / Addendum
I am so thrilled about the continued interest in baskets from my Jute and Cotton Series. I heard what you had to say, and based on your feedback I came up with additional designs.
A pattern booklet for a matching square set of jute and cotton stacking baskets is now available and can be found here on jakigu.com or can be purchased on Etsy.
In addition to the same decorative seam stitch as its round counterpart, the square basket pattern also features my proud invention: a unique stitch to create nice, sharp corners. I’ll walk you through it step-by-step in a wonderfully detailed photo tutorial.

And if you are as much in love with the neutral look of jute with cotton, you might like this geometric/lacey crochet basket set. It’s made in coiled crochet technique – a technique I am passionately trying to get to as many people as possible because it is hands down the best way to make sturdy, durable baskets. Pattern for this basket can be found here on jakigu.com or purchased on Etsy.

You can read more about the coiled crochet technique here. I adore both the simplicity and durability coiled crochet lends to baskets.
This coiled crochet bowl offers a wonderfully practical introduction to the concept. Make a set of lovely stackable bowls while you learn and master this helpful technique. Pattern can be found in both jakigu.com and Etsy pattern shops.

When I say “a pattern,” I mean so much more than a couple pages of instructions written in crochet shorthand. My patterns are highly detailed PDFs with beautifully organized pages filled with tips, photo tutorials, detailed step-by-step instructions, explanation of each stitch needed to complete the project, and high quality images. Just take a closer look at the 54-page guide for these bowls:

These adorable coiled baskets with handles take the simple bowl design one step further with the addition of practical handles. Buy the equally detailed pattern here on jakigu.com or in my Etsy shop.

I describe the handle construction in detail in an additional 46-page step-by-step photo tutorial.

And while I have been proudly selling my patterns Etsy shop since 2012, jakigu.com has become my online home and I want you to feel special every time you visit.
